CURRENT PROBLEMS OF MONITORING THE QUALITY OF DRINKING TAP WATER

Topicality. Analysis of literature data, legislative acts and regulations, reference and normative and methodological documentation indicates the lack of progress in improving the quality of drinking water.
Purpose of the work. Analysis of current problems of monitoring the quality of drinking tap water.
Materials and methods. Methods: bibliometric, analytical. The research materials were literature data and sources of official statistical information, in particular the National Report on the Quality of Drinking Water and the State of Drinking Water Supply in Ukraine. The analysis of monitoring the quality of drinking water in the Rivne region was carried out using the reporting forms of the State Institution "Rivne Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine".
Research results. The state of centralized water supply systems for 16 years (2009–2024) was analyzed according to state statistical reporting in terms of compliance with sanitary standards, non-compliance of drinking water quality with regulatory requirements for sanitary-chemical and sanitary-microbiological indicators, municipal and rural water supply systems according to these indicators and separately for the Rivne region. A pronounced difference was noted in the data for 2014–2016 compared to previous years, which consisted in a decrease in the number of surveyed facilities and, conversely, an increase in the percentage of their non-compliance. An analysis of the activities of institutions - subjects of drinking water quality monitoring - the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine in terms of monitoring drinking water quality was performed. Data are presented on a significant share of the percentage of drinking water quality monitoring in the Rivne region at the expense of a special fund compared to budget funds
Conclusions. The solution to the problem of drinking water quality lies in the creation of a single state interdepartmental control structure with central subordination and broad powers, including influence on the financing of measures for the technical modernization of water purification and disinfection systems to ensure its chemical harmlessness and epidemic safety for the population of Ukraine.
